Words to go: 8,108 (that’s less than 10,000 for anyone who has trouble — like me — with math!)
Confession: I really, really, really didn’t want to write tonight. But, I knew if I didn’t get my “quota” in, I would have to write double tomorrow. That thought alone got me to my computer after watching “My Neighbor Totoro” with my three guys this evening.
Awareness: I’ve realized that I need to check in with my resources once I’m in edit mode on this novel. Some of the “action” I’ve added (from who knows where in my head) involves the police and the emergency room. Thankfully, I know very little about either of these things. And, thankfully I know a former sheriff and an ER nurse who I can use to “phone a friend” and get my facts straight. Nothing worse than someone reading your novel and saying, “Um, yeah, an ER nurse would never do that.” Or, “Sheriffs don’t walk into an apartment with their guns held high.”
But that work is. for. later. Must just put words on the page now. The focus is on the finish line. (And the question that I keep asking myself: have I really been at this for twenty seven days!?!)
